Whangaroa

Whangaroa Coastguard is based in the Whangaroa Harbour and is operational in the area from the Cavalli Islands to Cape Karikari.

Our new Rescue Vessel ‘Kahurangi’ is a diesel powered dedicated rescue vessel designed and built for the sea conditions in our area. We have a fully trained crew of volunteers to man her.

Our VHF radio CH05 is linked to Coastguard Northern Region and is manned 24/7. CH05 should be used for all trip reports and when assistance is required. East of the Cavalli Islands please use CH04.

Emergencies calls should be made on CH16. Our CH64 also covers the area and is for ship to ship communications and other local maritime uses. Outside the harbour the Nowcasting weather service is available on CH19 or CH20.
