Coastguard Northern Region is the charity saving lives at sea in the northern part of New Zealand. In addition to Search and Rescue services, we provide a variety of information and educational services designed to maximise the public's safe enjoyment of the water.

Critical to effective front-line services is the comprehensive response to safety and rescues on the water provided by the highly competent and professional Coastguard Operations Centre team, where an opportunity now exists to join the organisation as a Radio Operator.

As part of the Coastguard Operations Centre team, a Radio Operator's diverse responsibilities will include support of Coastguard’s provision of a 24 hour/365 day a year safety-related communications service, as well as interfacing with users to deliver Coastguard’s range of safety and information services. A Radio Operator also has key projects as well as a series of administrative functions to deliver for Coastguard Northern Region.

This paid role involves 12 hour shifts, based on a rolling roster of two days on/two nights on/four days off.
