Education

The Coastguard Northern Region Maritime School has earned an excellent reputation for delivering top notch tutorials courses .  Nothing beats the face to face experience. You get guided by Tutors who have years of practical experience behind them. Your questions get answered immediately.  You enjoy the camaraderie  of class mates in an ideal learning environment.

At the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre students learn in purpose built lecture rooms overlooking the water.  At all venues you are given the personal treatment from tutors who impart their knowledge freely.

There are courses for those who are very new to boating, Day Skipper and are seeking to learn the basics, or who would like to put themselves or others through a Practical Boating Course. We also have Coastal Skipper and Ocean Yachtmaster courses which include celestial navigation. There are practical programmes for those with Outboard Motors, and for Diesel Maintenance, and also for those seeking licensing for the use of a marine VHF band radio.

More and more women and teenagers are taking these courses now, and once completed, they are finding their boating far more enjoyable. Many say that they are more empowered now that they have increased knowledge and the ability to take charge should they ever want or even need to.

Coastguard Education Cruises 2007

Coastguard Education Cruises 2007  are scheduled for 27th November to Waiheke/Coromandel and 4th December to Mahurangi/Kawau.     On these Coastguard evening charters on board Fullers Ferry passengers will enjoy visiting the most popular anchorages, while full commentry reveals information on hazards, practical tips on safety, prime recreational opportunities (walking tracks, diving spots etc...) and an interesting historical account of each area.

Both of these cruises are now sold out.
