Weather Maps

Metservice Weather Maps

MetService Weather Maps are available as the current situation (also known as recent maps) and as a prognosis of what the situation is forecast to be one day, two days and three days ahead. Note that as in much weather information the base time used is UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, which used to be known as Grenwich Mean Time).

Metservice Observations

MetService rain radars show rain activity over the three main centres of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.  Satellite imagery of New Zealand and the Tasman Sea is also available.

Australian Bureau of Met charts

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology provide current weather maps which cover all of Australia, the Tasman Sea and New Zealand. They also provide two 36-hour forecasts, as at 0000 hours UTC and 1200 hours UTC.
