Waiuku

Waiuku Search and Rescue was formed in 1973 after two drownings on the Waikato River.  Their area of operation includes the Waikato River up as far as Huntly, the West Coast up to 12 nm out, and the Manukau Harbour and bar.  Waiuku SAR owns a 7.2m Naiad Inflatable with twin 150hp Mercury outboards.  They also run a 4.8m Naiad for the smaller inshore jobs.

Waiuku SAR are based at the old Waiuku Courthouse in Massey Park.  They have an active volunteer list of some 25 members, available 24/7 for callouts.
