The Boat Log

Boat Books and Captain Teach Press have developed an entirely new concept in boating logbooks, designed especially for small–power boats. It is in two A5 logbooks held in a good quality, clear plastic wallet of a size that will stow comfortably in a boats dashboard locker.

The Equipment and Service Log is for recording ownership, mechanical and safety equipment and a full record of servicing. It includes a full and up to date list of all New Zealand VHF marine radio stations and contains recommendations on essential equipment.

The 93 page Trip Log has a trip-by-trip check list for the boats equipment and for recording tide, weather and your own narrative trip record. The check list refers back to details of equipment in the Equipment Log and can be filled out by a family member as young as 10 years of age under adult supervision, meaning that the whole family can be involved.

Author Rodney Leech is a Coastguard Skipper and tutor and is a seasoned boatie having owned or operated everything from small power boats to launches and yachts. The Boat Log has been prepared in consultation with and assisted by Coastguard Northern Region, Maritime New Zealand and other Regional Coastguard and maritime organisations.

Coastguard Northern Region has a limited amount of The Boat Log available through the Bosun’s Locker for a special price of $35.00. Either drop into the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre or ring 09 303 4303.
