Thames

Thames Coastguard has 2 vessels available for callout from their base in the Thames township. “Thames Rescue” is a 6.8m Naiad and “Toyota Rescue” is a 4.87m Hamilton Jet powered craft.  This gives the unit the advantage of being able to trailer their boats by road to get to an incident in a more timely manner, thus reducing the incident time.  Their area of operation covers the entire Firth of Thames across to Kawakawa Bay, up to and including the Colville Channel. The Coromandel Coast area includes many coastal islands, marine farms and some popular harbours.
