Raglan

Raglan Volunteer Coastguard (formerly Raglan Sea Rescue Group) provides SAR and marine assistance services on the west coast of the North Island from Crayfish Point (north) to Tirua Point (south).

We operate two rescue vessels out of Raglan Harbour:

Harbour View Rescue ZMQ9006 is an 11 metre aluminium Scot Robson catamaran. She was built by Murray Newman (Westcoast Boats, Raglan) and with thanks to our sponsors, was purchased several years later by our unit from the original owner. Generous sponsorship from Raglan Harbourview Hotel has allowed us to fit out our vessel to DRV survey standards.

Raglan Ski Rescue ZMQ9004 (2007 Yamaha Cruiser 160), provides SAR services to anyone in distress around coastal inshore locations, such as surfers, kitesurfers, windsurfers or kayakers. She also provides support service to Yanmar City and has proven valuable as a first response vessel in a variety of situations.

Most of our crews are multi-talented! In addition to our regular training for DRV's in a range of varying sea states and weather conditions, Raglan Volunteer Coastguard crews participate in combined trainings with other emergency services. We have established an excellent working relationship with the Raglan Surf Lifesaving Club and often provide support to the Waikato Westpac Air Ambulance Rescue Helicopter as "jumpers" (rescue swimmers).
