This is the highest qualification offered for non-commercial boating, and has international repute and recognition. This 3 part course is very popular with skippers and crew of pleasure boats cruising or racing offshore or to places overseas.
Prerequisites for this Certificate of Competency are:
1. Prerequisites for Coastal Skipper Certificate
2. 400 hours sea-time, with 50 hours beyond harbour limits and
at least 72 hours continuous time at least 30 miles offshore.
3. Current first aid certificate (Coastguard Marine Medic, St John
- adult grade or equivalent)
4. Restricted Radio Operators Licence.
Written examinations may be taken without holding any other qualification, but the Ocean Yachtmaster Certificate can only be issued after completing all the necessary requirements.
