Far North Coastguard Radio

Far North Coastguard Radio provide 24/7 radio coverage for vessels going as far afield as the South Pacific Islands. Using scheduled radio call-in times, they keep an active watch on the local commercial and recreational vessels in their area to enhance safety in what can be dangerous waters.

In 2008, Far North Coastguard Radio took delivery of their first dedicated rescue vessel when they purchased Hokianga Coastguard’s former RV – a 6.8 Naiad. The vessel has been renamed “Good as Gold” in memory of a favourite saying of former Far North Radio stalwart Maureen McMillan who passed away last year.
